The accidental expat blogger behind LucidStoneBloom

Hi there, I am Emily
I work as a project manager, I’m a parent, and I’m an expat living in Toronto, Canada.
A few years back I moved here with my family. What began as a short-term assignment gradually became a new chapter of life abroad.
How It Started
Moving to Canada wasn't in the long-term plan. As with many expat relocations, it began as a work opportunity and soon grew into something far more significant.
The initial months were demanding — unfamiliar systems, new routines, and raised expectations. Daily tasks seemed more tangled than they should be.
The Adjustment Period
There was culture shock, doubt, and a lot of learning by doing. Yet, over time a rhythm formed. We found places that fit our needs, connected with other families, and began to create something that felt steady.
Why I Built LucidStoneBloom
Most information online was either corporate relocation guidance or shallow tourism content. What was missing was an honest, day-to-day family perspective.
This site aims to bridge that gap — practical guidance drawn from real life in Canada.
What This Website Represents (And What It Does Not)
This site REPRESENTS:
- Hands-on insights from living in Canada
- Centered on family life and daily realities
- Updated when there is a real change
This site DOES NOT INCLUDE:
- Not an official tourism authority resource
- Not a paid review platform
- Not a generic travel blog
Ahead Looking
Our time in Canada goes on, and so does the learning process. As long as the information remains useful, I’ll continue documenting what we discover.
If you have questions about family life in Toronto or anywhere in Canada, please don’t hesitate to reach out.
Best regards,
Emily
